This week, I have loaned by column to the wife and family of Archie Thomas who are celebrating his official retirement. Thomas, who will continue to serve as pastor of the Living Word Catheral, is hanging up his hat after a long career. He is a 1983 graduate of the Osceola School District and a long-time member of this community. We thank him for his continued commitment.

Today, we celebrate the remarkable career and retirement of Archie Thomas, a man who has dedicated his life to serving both his country and his community. After decades of commitment, hard work, and unwavering dedication, Archie is retiring from both the Osceola Arkansas School District and his distinguished military service.

A Pillar in the Community

Archie Thomas has been a cornerstone of the Osceola School District. Over the past Sixteen years, he has influenced countless lives, inspiring students and colleagues alike with his passion for education.  His leadership has always been marked by his empathy, integrity, and a deep commitment to the success and well-being of families and students.

Throughout his tenure, Archie held the position of Community liaison, within the school district,  executed with excellence and a drive for positive change. His impact was profound.  Pastor Thomas will be  remembered as a mentor and a friend, always ready with advice, support, and a kind word.

Distinguished Military Career

Parallel to his educational career, Archie served his country with honor and distinction in the military. His journey in the armed forces is a testament to his patriotism and resilience. Through numerous deployments and assignments, he demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic acumen, and a steadfast commitment to his fellow service members and the mission at hand.
