Dr. Kima Stewart becomes the first inductee into Buffalo Island Central School District's Hall of Honor, celebrating her 39-year career and contributions, including her role as District Elementary Education director.

The Buffalo Island Central School District recognized Dr. Kima Stewart (right) as its first inductee into the Hall of Honor Friday at halftime of the homecoming game against Gosnell. Dr. Stewart, a 1982 graduate of Monette High School, earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State University and also obtained her MSE in 1989 and doctorate in 2004. She has a 39-year career in education, all with the BIC district. Dr. Stewart began her educational career as a second grade teacher before assuming the role as the district’s gifted and talent coordinator. She was named District Elementary Education director where she served from 1992-2024. This included duties as BIC’s federal coordinator. As a result of her many contributions, the district recently chose to name its elementary media center in her honor. Because of her devotion to the district, the school board selected her as its first inductee. The board established the Hall of Honor earlier this year to recognize graduates, instructors and patrons who have made significant contributions to the district or society. Dr. Stewart is pictured with Bill Taylor who presented her with the plaque.
