The Rivercrest Lady Colts basketball teams secured two victories over Hoxie, with the senior team winning 67-27, improving to 5-1 overall. The junior team narrowly won 40-39, while Hoxie took the seventh-grade game 13-11.

WILSON - The Rivercrest Lady Colts basketball squads won two of three games played at Colt Gymnasium Monday over 3-3A conference foe Hoxie.

The senior Lady Colts improved to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference with a 67-27 win over the Lady Mustangs. Rivercrest led 19-8 after one period and 44-17 at the break. The Rivercrest lead was 61-21 after three periods and the final quarter was played with the “sportsmanship clock” in motion, as the Lady Colts ended up with the 40 point victory.

Senior Destiny Burks led the way with 17 points, four assists and five steals for Rivercrest. Fellow senior Jalexia Young added 14 points for the Lady Colts. Gabby Harris and Ella Gonzalez added eight points each for Rivercrest, while Lani Latham and Kamryn Goodlow both scored seven points.

Hoxie fell to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Rivercrest edged the junior Lady Mustangs in the junior girls game by a 40-39 count. Three Rivercrest athletes scored in double figures as Aniyah Wood led the way with 14 points. Armani Facon added 11 points and Taraiji Davis had 10 points.

Hoxie won the seventh grade game 13-11.

Rivercrest travels to conference favorite Manila Thursday night in the its final action of 2024. Rivercrest returns to action Jan. 2 at Marked Tree.
