The Blytheville community is mourning this week as police put a name to an unidentified body discovered in the city a week ago today.

The body has been identified as 29-year-old Madison Starnes who has been missing for almost two months.

According to Sgt. Robin Haught-Angel with the Blytheville Police Department, officers responded to the 800 block of Rosemond in reference to the discovery of a body on Saturday, Dec. 28. The remains were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for identification and possible cause of death.

The result was the positive identification of Madison Starnes, whose family reported her missing to police in early December.

Family and friends had been circulating a flyer distributed by Missing People in America (MPIA) in an attempt to find their loved one. The flyer stated Starnes had last been seen in Blytheville on Nov. 1. She was believed to be in the surrounding area including Jonesboro or Memphis.

Sgt. Haught-Angel said this incident is still an ongoing investigation. If the public has any information pertaining to this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Blytheville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 870-763-4411.
