The City of Keiser recently announced it has been awarded a Fire Protection Grant totaling $29,425.88. This vital funding will enable the Keiser Fire Department to enhance its emergency response capabilities by purchasing three SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) tanks and two AWIN (Arkansas Wireless Information Network) radios.
The SCBA tanks are essential for firefighters as they provide a reliable air supply in hazardous environments, such as smoke-filled buildings or chemical exposure incidents. These new tanks will replace aging equipment, ensuring the safety and effective-ness of the city's firefighters during emergencies. Additionally, the AWIN radios will improve communication among first responders, both within the department and with other agencies, which is critical during large-scale incidents or mutual aid operations.
Mayor Rick Creecy expressed his gratitude for the grant, stating, "This funding is a significant step forward in improving the safety and readiness of our fire department. It’s another example of our commitment to providing the best possible services to our residents and surrounding communities."
The grant reflects the city's ongoing dedication to equipping its fire department with modern tools and technology, supporting its mission to protect lives and property. The Keiser Fire Department plays a vital role in serving not only the city but also neighboring rural areas, often responding to calls for assistance in a 20-mile radius.
With these upgrades, the department is better prepared to face emergencies and ensure the safety of its firefighters and the community. The City of Keiser continues to prioritize investments in public safety and thanks all those involved in securing this much-needed grant.
